Escher Girls

Float like a butterfly, Sting like a WTF!?

This is a blog to archive and showcase the prevalence of certain ways women are depicted in illustrated pop media, specifically how women are posed, drawn, distorted, and sexualized out of context, often in ridiculous, impossible or disturbing ways that sacrifice storytelling.

About Me

I’m Ami Angelwings, blonde, Chinese-Canadian, anti-oppression activist, social worker, feminist, comic and video game fangirl.

I created this blog as an archive of the way women are portrayed in fictional mediums because in my blogging, I kept wanting to explain the ways women are portrayed in comics and I thought it would be helpful to have a collection of examples so critics couldn’t just say “oh that’s just an exception!”  Also because analyzing ridiculous art amuses me.

Check out my blog at http://ami-rants.blogspot.com where I talk about comics, feminism, racism, video games, and anything else that comes to my mind.
