Concept art
Linda submitted: This is a picture from Hunter - The vigil by White Wolf. I don’t know where to begin when looking at the woman in the picture but… But the monster looks great! Bizarre fighting stance and torso twist aside, those are some REALLY tiny arms. The monster does look good!  But maybe it only looks good to our human eyes.  What if monsters of that species look at this picture...

Banzai Deconstruction
egypturnash submitted: Really, I think a lot of the problem with that sort of thing is that people are doing cartoon poses with realistic levels of detail. I mean, I’ve perpetrated the occasional “look, Rita has tits AND an ass!” pose in my own comic. But I can get away with it because it’s showing some sort of crazy twisting leap or something, and the fact that I have...

Sexy Wolverine
mdevile submitted: (the best thing about using Wolverine for this? Other than the FABULOUS HAIR of course. If he accidentally breaks his spine while twisting, or chops off his junk while striking a pose with the claws extended, he’s got a HEALING FACTOR. /logic) Awesome!  And yeah, his healing factor would fix him right up.  Unless he spent too long like that, would it just heal him...

pinku-chan asked: It's really crazy how artists can't get basic anatomy right. It's like these characters are made of rubber. Like if they want to draw boobs so bad, why don't they do a different pose?

Anonymous asked: "Women who exercise strenuously have smaller breasts because of a lack of fat. Unless they’re fake." Um, WRONG. I dance for more than 5 hours a week and ride horses for another 6 and I wear a 36F bra. And they are most certainly not fake. Think before you make sweeping generalizations, folks.

amanofletters asked: On your redraws, why do the women always tend to be kind of thick-bodied, with wide waists and shoulders? I know it's more realistic, and the sort of athletic girls that usually feature on these comics would be well-built, but slender women DO exist, and it may be better to communicate a redraw with a women with similar proportions (albeit less exaggerated).

A nice example of how to draw ladies in comics
Commissioned Comic did a funny piece today about how to draw ladies if you look at comic art as examples: http://www.commissionedcomic.com/?p=4766. I saw this and thought of this blog. They actually mention Escher Girls in the commentary as their inspiration so that’s probably why it seems so similar.  (I’m also flattered that I’m inspiring funny webcomic strips :3 )

wycarnfife asked: Hi....I just joined tumblr so I could ask you this :) I was wondering if you had material online, like tutorials and such that would help one with drawing the female form properly... I have started drawing relatively late in life and it saddens me to see that even "professional" artists are so terrible with drawing women... if you dont have tutorials is there somewhere you could point me...

Less Tits n' Ass, More Kickin' Ass: On Cheesecake →
lesstitsnass: I wanted to see if you would take a crack at this: Okay. Right. I’ve been debating for the last couple of days on how to address this particular image. By now I’m sure you’ve all seen Maxi and April’s take on this which is its own slice of awesome, but as far as I understand it, this… Another great break down by Less Tits n Ass which is a tumblr anybody who likes...

To all the new people coming from io9
Some of my new readers seem to be under the impression that “most of it is Liefeld”.  I only started to post Liefeld a month or so ago, and I haven’t posted that many of his.  The 900 other pictures are of NOT Liefeld, that’s the scary part xD  I didn’t post Liefeld as a policy to start this blog because I knew some people would say “oh that’s just Rob...

msa-005k asked: After seeing a comment to the effect of "These guys must be using action figures for models," I tried to mimic the poses with my figures. Turns out even they can't do it, they move more realistically than women in comics. I did manage a pose that shows boobs and butt without turning the upper body 135 degrees, though. So, if action figures, and presumably actual women, can do it...

Pinup Comparison
crimsonhymns submitted: I found this of one of my favorite pinup artists, Gil Elvgren. And noticed some differences in the model versus the outcome. Her chest is distorted in the painting, and I don’t’ see why he had to do that. She was fine in the pose! Seems like it’d be super uncomfortable to bend one’s spine like that. Possibly only mild eschergirl syndrome, but I...
