Escher Girls

Float like a butterfly, Sting like a WTF!?

This is a blog to archive and showcase the prevalence of certain ways women are depicted in illustrated pop media, specifically how women are posed, drawn, distorted, and/or sexualized out of context, often in ridiculous, impossible or disturbing ways that sacrifice storytelling.

Third try submitting! *pleads to the twisty-spined gods*
Since this is try three this picture is fairly old…for example, my feet look pretty broken O_O But most likely in less pain than the original. I tried to make her pose seem more dynamic, as if she were flying upward, and gave her some hand-energy so she seemed to have a power. Though, the musculature I tried to draw in kinda backfired in the face, since she looks about 20 years older…but I think the expression came off well.
Made changes to her boots so they’d seem more likely to kick some @$$.

Sorry, I think you got lost in my backlog.  :\  You’re up now!
