Escher Girls

Float like a butterfly, Sting like a WTF!?

This is a blog to archive and showcase the prevalence of certain ways women are depicted in illustrated pop media, specifically how women are posed, drawn, distorted, and/or sexualized out of context, often in ridiculous, impossible or disturbing ways that sacrifice storytelling.

See the "About" section in the sidebar for more details.

Artists really need to learn that they can’t just shove legs anywhere they want on a female figure. XD

OKAY.  ARTISTS!  LISTEN UP!  You see that curve you keep drawing that attaches her leg to her waist?  That curve you love to draw so much?  That is her hip.  It is a ball and socket joint.  It rotates.  If the leg is not straight down, the hip should not be either!  Thank you for your time. :)

This is the larger version of the last post’s picture.   Besides the broken hip on the middle girl (the girl in black has a broken hip too), look at her leg. That’s serious plasticine!

I think the girl in black’s breasts are trying desperately to flee because they want to get away from the orgy of twisted spines and whatever the f- is going on with the fishnet girl’s left leg.

I’m choosing to interpret that as her wearing a protective cup rather than that the artist sketched her naked with pubic hair and just drew clothes on top.

Elves with hybrid cat-snake bodies topped off with little stunted t-rex paws.  Do I have it about right?  (And look closely, I’m not sure she’s actually holding that sword.)

They really should have given Ash the chainsaw hand to hold her, it would explain her organless torso, broken spine and rib joints.

Foot locked into a creepy position, sharp pointy boobs… and is her sword BEHIND her hand?
