I found this ad on TopWebcomics.com. I know it’s really stylized, and not even human, but I still can’t imagine her spine should ever be bending this much:
Don’t know if you post this kind of thing, but I see this ad whenever I check on my comic ranking and this anatomy REALLY bothers me! Just wanted you to see it.
Yeah, it’s definitely stylized, and she’s a cat girl, so there’s an excuse. At the same time, you have to wonder if the artist did that because she’s a cat and that’s the style, or if also it’s because she’s a female character. The sad part is, we see this pose (with the same bent spine) with plenty of non-stylized, non-feline characters too, so I totally understand your “wtf”ness whenever you see this ad. :)
There is so much wrong with this. From the lack of organs to the butt displacement to the calf about to snap off to the headline.
A) Isn’t this kind of a bad idea? Using photoshop to set a standard you might not be able to deliver?
B) I wonder if she consented to her image being used, much less being altered. I (and people I know) have had experiences of dating/sex sites using images of amateur photos without the permission of the owner.
C) “Women who can’t say no” has disturbing implications. Especially with “can’t” underlined.
Edit: http://eschergirls.tumblr.com/post/16193666201/roundaboutparker-replied-to-your-post-re There was originally some controversy if she’d been photoshopped because this model is well known for having curvy proportions, but somebody did an animated gif with the picture this was taken from and indeed she has been photoshopped. (I added it into the post so you can see without having to go to the other post.)
I’m not sure if this qualifies, it being an ad and not exactly related to the big 3 (comics, video games… well I guess you could argue it’s “fantasy” art).
Is it just me or is the girl in the middle… broken?
Not just you, it’s a Photoshop disaster. It’s scary when ads alter real life to look more like fictitious life. Usually when we say we want real women’s poses to match up with comics, we mean comics should change, not… Photoshop atrocities.
That middle girl is getting terrifyingly close to:
But I am entirely sure that I don’t like it.
She’s boob floundering the other way. This is the first time I’ve seen a boob flounder from the other side. Impressive. Most impressive.
