Escher Girls

Float like a butterfly, Sting like a WTF!?

This is a blog to archive and showcase the prevalence of certain ways women are depicted in illustrated pop media, specifically how women are posed, drawn, distorted, and/or sexualized out of context, often in ridiculous, impossible or disturbing ways that sacrifice storytelling.

See the "About" section in the sidebar for more details.

At this point the usual butt and boobs pose is almost pedestrian. XD

From PLAY Magazine’s “Girls of Gaming”.  PLAY Magazine really doesn’t have to try this hard.  We get it.  You don’t want us reading your magazine. -_-

Yet another PLAY Magazine’s “Girls of Gaming”.  I wouldn’t have put this here except from the artists own blog:

I put this together for the new issue of Girls of Gaming from PLAY Magazine, its ac couple of girls form the game PURE. Disney Interactive was the publisher so they wanted something a bit more conservative for the poses..darn :p

Yup, that’s the more conservative version (apparently it doesn’t apply to drawing visible nipples though).

At least they’re honest about it.  It’s too bad that zombies don’t read comics, and their marketing strategy will fail.
(and yes, that apostrophe is in the wrong place, but I think Zenescope knows that nobody reads their comics for their writing (or words) )

Very superheroic.

I’m assuming in comic book land, all women come equipped with laser sights on the butts of their suits or something.

3 guesses who the artist is?  (I know, 3 is overkill.)

*sigh* Benes.

*sigh* Benes.

Are you still on Ed Benes binge?

zackcandraw submitted:

If yes, good! ‘Cos you’re gonna love this early Ed Benes image from his Samuree days:

Samuree

That’s Benes?  I guess I should have figured.  I’ve already put this image up in my tumblr, but I had no idea that it was Benes.  I’ll put it up again here.

Actually, I have a question for my readers:

Do you want me to re-post some of my favourite Escher Girls from the early days of this tumblr where some people might have not seen them?
