Escher Girls

Float like a butterfly, Sting like a WTF!?

This is a blog to archive and showcase the prevalence of certain ways women are depicted in illustrated pop media, specifically how women are posed, drawn, distorted, and/or sexualized out of context, often in ridiculous, impossible or disturbing ways that sacrifice storytelling.

Based off this green lantern cover I keep on seeing stuff for the Hawkeye Initiative, where people replace the women of comics with men to reveal how ridiculous they are posed for the sexual novelty only. So I decided I wanted to do the flip side and draw some of them in poses done by the dudes to make the girls look a little cooler.

Oh hay, it’s Cyborg Supergirl!  As a big fan of Supergirl, I think it’s awesome you chose this one.
(I need a tag for these images now… any ideas?)

You got your reboot in my au. Based on

Awesome!
(This is part of the draw women in heroic guy poses thing that was suggested a while back by a reader. :)  I think right now people have decided to use Psylocke for the redraws, but I like variety so I encourage people to use whoever they want.)

Psylocke redraw

Wow.  I like it.  She looks hardcore.

(This is part of the “redraw Psylocke in men’s poses” collaboration.)

So people can reblog it if they like

sexpositivesissy asked: A re-draw Psylocke in masculine poses project? How can i take part in this? i adore this idea!

Just send me your redraw, or a link to the post of your redraw :)  So far I’m using the “The Psylocke Collaboration” tag, but that’s only because I like the name. :)

You can also email your redraw to eschergirls@gmail.com

Sample post for those not clear on what this is about. :)

The “project” is just to draw Psylocke (or any other heroine you like) in poses of male heroes.  Kinda like a reverse Hawkeye Initiative.

For the Psylocke Collaboration. The anatomy is a bit off.

I like it. :)  I like her skintone too.

Archangel and Psylocke play swapsies with Wolverine and Mystique for the Psylocke Collaboration.
I would read THE HELL out of this.

Well done.  I like how you substituted his claws with her psy blades.

Evening Eschergirls! I attempted a re-draw of that one picture you told use could use a Psylocke re-draw. Mind you, I barely read any comics and do not have full control over anatomy, so there’s a whole bunch of faults for you to correct here. But at least it’s something, right? c:

Here’s my first redraw for Psylocke Collaboration. I decided to pick this lovely picture http://eschergirls.tumblr.com/post/38958640896/freezecooper-submitted-has-this-been-submitted
Ladies and genlemen, meet Odette known as Iron Lady and “That-goddamn-crazy-butler” Philippe. Odette can turn her body (except for face) into iron. She also can melt her body to change its shape. And Philippe has a regeneration powers. I will use these cute twins for my redraws.
About redraw. It was harder than I thought - oh I hate Psylocke’s pose. Her legs are ridiculous and her arms can do only scratchy or piercing attacks. So I know I messed up with Philippe’s weapons :I also I wanted to cut off his legs to match with Psylocke’s but I think not so many people like gory stuff.
I changed IronMan’s pose too because big spikey balls are better for punches from above.

I’m guessing these are the original characters you promised.  I like the poses you came up with and also the design of your characters. :)
